Head Coach
- Steve Fitch Introducing our new head coach, Steve Fitch! Hi Phantom Lake Swimmers and Parents: My name is Steve Fitch and I am so fortunate to have the opportunity to coach the swim team this summer. My wife Anne was transferred here from South Carolina last summer, and we were invited to join the team at Phantom Lake by our good friends the Metz family. My kids, Stevie (10) and Peter (8), were on the swim and Dive teams last year, and this year my daughter, Taylor Anne (5), will join also. I am a stay at home Dad and I have been involved in swimming and coaching for many years. I am excited to have the chance to coach the team at Phantom Lake. Phantom Lake is a wonderful place for families to relax, unwind and enjoy the summer. The swim team provides a great opportunity to meet new friends, learn new skills and create lifelong memories. I feel privileged to be part of the future of Phantom Lake and I hope that I will exceed your expectations of what a coach should bring to the team. I coach and have a passion for the sport because of the coaches and mentors I have had, and I consider it my responsibility to share my enthusiasm and experience. Kids join the swim team for a variety of reasons, but ultimately everybody is seeking a positive and successful experience. My style of coaching is to teach fundamental swimming and racing skills, provide opportunity, and reward positive behaviors. By engaging the kids in team-building activities, and learning to become competitive swimmers we can strive to reach common goals. Everyone will have an opportunity to develop their skills and achieve their own successful experiences. My success as a coach will be judged by my ability to find and achieve the individual goals for each child and the team as a whole. I am open to suggestions and always interested to hear your feedback. Your input and participation is essential to the success of the team. I can hardly wait for the first day of practice, and that first splash in the water. Please consider attending the Spring Tune-Up Stroke Clinic scheduled to begin May 11. It will be a great chance to meet the new coach and get a jump on the season. I look forward to a fun and successful summer, and hope that you are equally as anxious. As the Midlakes schedule is finalized please mark your calendars. You will not want to miss a day of swim team. Hope to see you all there.
Sincerely,
